All We Have Is Time is a science-fiction drama that follows Williams, an astronaut who along with the rest of his crew, narrowly survives a malfunction, caused by a temporal anomaly in the depths of space during the year 2025.
The spaceship set build where most of the story take place in. Inspired by the concept of time being both linear and cyclical depicted in the script, the design of the spaceship is a visual representation of these two dimensions of time by having a linear tunnel and a cyclical control room. The style of the spaceship is lived-in, industrial, utilitarian with retro design elements inspired by Nostromo ship in the 1979 film Alien.
The 1997 timeline is nostalgic, dreamy and hazy, evoking the feeling of memory. Starting from a soft, dreamy yellow tone, the colour red will be slowly introduced through golden hour light, costume and dressing, which peak at the prom scene to foreshadow Lola’s ultimate demise. Time, mirror, window and star elements are the visual motifs in this timeline to tie in with the space timeline.
Behind The Scenes
Due to the limited budget of a student film. The design realisation of this project is extremely sustainable. Most of the walls are university stock flats, material and dressings are recycled and repurposed from household waste, salvage yards and tip shops. After wrap, a large part of the sets are donated to a local escape room business to be transformed for commercial use.
